Week 12 NCAA Football Picks

It’s sad to say but NCAA football is in it’s final stretch of the regular season. Most teams only have three games left. This is the time where a loss can essentially eliminate a teams chances at making the playoff tournament. A very pivotal game is being played between #1 Mississippi State and #5 Alabama. This is first time I can remember a #1 team being 10 point underdogs. Seems a little absurd. We have a free pick on that game posted here: Alabama vs. Miss St. Free Pick. Other picks are as follows:

Notre Dame -17.5 vs. Northwestern

This is just not Northwestern’s year. The team had high hopes under young Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald and have shown flashes of talent throughout the season. But as of now they are just 3-6 straight up and  against the spread. They just can’t score points. They only average 18 points on offense per game. The defense has done their job only allowing 22 points per game. But the offense is despicable. Notre Dame comes home and looks to blowout Northwestern after a horrendous defeat at Arizona State (31-55). You wouldn’t want to be the team that is playing Notre Dame this week. They are going to come out pumped up. The Fighting Irish are 7-2 SU and 5-4 ATS and look to go 8-2 and 6-4 tomorrow. Take Notre Dame for the easy win and cover here. Bet this pick at You Wager

Nebraska +6.5 at Wisconsin

The Cornhuskers just don’t get any respect by the media and betting public. Wisconsin is not a TD better football team that Nebraska. The line came out at Wisconsin -4 and that’s where it should have stayed. But the public has bet Wisconsin. There is value in taking the underdog here.  Nebraska is one of the better point spread covering teams in the nation. They are 6-2-1 ATS. Wisconsin is just 4-5 ATS. If the role was reversed and Wisconsin was getting a TD at Nebraska I would take the underdog there too. The game should be pretty tight, regardless of where they are playing. Florida State ML -145 at Miami FL.

For our final pick of the day we are playing FSU to win straight up in Miami. The line has FSU -2.5 but we want to protect against a narrow margin of victory cover scenario. For the life of us we cannot figure out this line. Our computer models have it at FSU -5. We know it is a state and conference rivalry. We know that everyone thinks Florida State is overrated because they play in the ACC. But, we don’t think they are overrated. They played and beat Oklahoma State (when people thought they were good) and Notre Dame (when they were undefeated). They also went to Louisville and beat them in front of a very hostile crowd on prime time TV. These are all tests that in our minds should have FSU as the best team in the country. Will they win this game against Miami? We are not totally sure. But there is value in taking the #1 team (in our minds) straight up against a team that has three losses.
